It’s hard to get back in work after a long holiday and it’s hard to make my way back to my beloved music posts after a three-week-long break. As I mentioned I had troubles and I just couldn’t sit down, take my pen (yes, I’m a stiff romantic person, I use handwriting and a Moleskine pocketbook) and write down any smart, sharp thoughts (I guess that is not my work anyway) but now, I really have a say in the matter –again.
I chose a band named Magashegyi Underground for today.
Well, I’ve always been afraid of the word ’underground’ because it scared me a little bit, it sounds like something very special, like being underground would be the coolest thing in the world and if you’re not in the circle of our mutual underground friends, you’re nobody. Anyway, I don’t believe in ordinary classification forms (thanks for the wisdom suddenly came with adulthood) and their name always makes me laugh.
Let me be your interpreter (ohh, that was one of Nicole Kidman’s worst movies) and you’ll see what am I talking about. ’Magas’ means high, and ’hegy’ makes mountain in hungarian, so isn’t it ironic? (An old man turned ninety-eight... always these silly associations!) I think it is. And I like them, finally a band that doesn’t take itself too seriously!
The song I chose to share with you could be a chanson in the 21th century, lightly, excluding its topic. Or why not, why can’t us be more romantic? A chanson about freckled shoulders performing by the Magashegyi Underground completed with a girl from either hungarian idol competition.
It was their first bigger boom (wasn’t this video simply brilliant?), their website was named by this song also and you can find a truly fascinating thing on that site... spotted shoulder beauty contest! :) Click here: http://www.szeplosvall.hu/ for more informations about their next appearances.
So it was my come-back after three weeks and I wanna say a big thanks to Zsolt for his patience for me:). See you next week.
